The Resurgence of Metal Frames

Whether it’s fashion, food, music, or eyeglasses, it’s not always easy to predict trendsetting styles and ideas.  Often, as soon as something is popular, a new trend sweeps in faster than most can notice, so trendspotting can sometimes seem futile. However, one such noticeable burgeoning trend in eyeglasses is the resurgence of metal frames.

Metal frames are very labour-intensive in their creation.  Take, for instance, Savile Row Eyewear in London, UK.  Savile Row’s frames — of which we carry a wide variety of both new and vintage pieces — are made with rolled gold, by artisans in their East London factory, using machinery and tools that date back as far back as the turn of the 19th century.

While all of our frames are handcrafted, our vintage metal frames are a particularly strong example of classic craftsmanship and artistry.  We carry a wide array of styles for all wearers: double bridge, circular, and rectangular frames by Cartier, Persol, Luxotica, Ralph Lauren, and many other boutique makers.
